Short Update: Great News!
I’m slowly getting through all my Peace Corps requirements. Sorry I have been unable to post details like I usually do. I’m up to my last week of school, and I really need to focus on my studies. I wish I had more time to prepare! Anyways here’s what I’ve been doing:
- Aspiration Statement
- Resume
- Passport and Visa
- Statement release form
- Home Stay Questionnaire
- & Now for the good news: I’ve gotten my cavities taken care of, and I found out I don’t need an expensive crown! Also, my teeth will be extracted soon after graduation, and then I’ll no longer be on hold!!
I also found out we’re for sure staging in Philadelphia. Pretty cool. I’ve never been there before. We have a Kenya facebook group, so I’ve been getting to know some of my fellow invitees a little more. They are pretty awesome, from what I can tell, and I can’t wait to meet them!
Also, just a heads up, I will be moving my blog somewhere else in a little while. Once I’m done with editing and formatting, I’ll post the link here. Good luck guys with whatever stage you’re in!
Okay…back to biochem.

Congrats on Kenya! I’ve always wanted to visit
My staging was in Philly too so here are a few tips.
1) If you need a drug store for anything, there is a CVS just around the corner. If you walk out of the hotel and take a right, at the end of the block (first main road) take a right … walk about three or so blocks and its on the left.
2) If you need a coffee kick there is a Starbucks just around the corner too. Go left out of the hotel. At the end of the block (first main road), turn right. You’ll see it up on the corner about two or so blocks up.
3) If you want a Philly Cheesesteak there is a really good place just down the street. I’m sure you could go anywhere and it would be good, but if you go right out of the hotel, turn right at the end of the block and just keep walking, it should be up on your right somewhere. It’s a little hole in the wall. I don’t remember the name. And be happy you’re going when you are and not when my group did. We went first week in January and there was tons of snow! Freezing!
Have a great time. Staging is such a blast and so is all the rest of it
Congrats again!

Can’t wait to meet you too! Good news about your teeth!

Me too! I’ve actually never had a Philly Cheese steak before.
Did you get the teasing email asking for the HFQ and a vague comment about “oh, you’ll be hearing from staging sometime in the next couple weeks” too? Because I nearly had a heart attack when I saw my emails and then my hopes for concrete flight information were crushed. Bright side: San Francisco staging confirmed! hooray!
I got an email like that. They just wanted information from me. Have you booked your flight to San Fran yet?
Yep, on Tuesday! It feels like not that long ago, we were waiting to hear about medical clearance. craziness
I know! When I was reviewing my PC box, the dates just blew my mind. I can’t believe it has almost been a year.
