Dental Disaster Pt. 2

I called PCHQ today about them receiving my paperwork. They said they received it, but I need:

  1. A crown
  2. Cavities filled
  3. Wisdom Teeth Extracted

Just as I thought. They’ve already sent everything back to me. Also, my dental at this point is considered pending, so they don’t put you on dental hold. I doubt I’ll hear anything from placement until I get that stuff taken care of, which sucks. But… I still don’t have 501 status, so it all works out.

Hello! I have read your blog for a little while as I make my way through the application process myself…. in reading other blogs, I came across a post where an applicant was told he needed to have wisdom teeth removed, but of course, going through the surgery (and paying the bills) was less than desirable…. I think what happened was that he consulted with his dentist about whether or not he would run into any problems with his wisdom teeth in the next 3 or so years, etc. The verdict from that conversion was “no,” and the dentist wrote a short statement explaining that there was no need for the removal of wisdom teeth, as there was no foreseeable reason that they would impact the applicant during the next few years of PC involvement…. the applicant submitted this statement, and no longer needed wisdom teeth removed! I don’t know how common this is, but it could sure be worth a try!

That was definitely something I was pushing when my teeth were being examined. I had two dentist tell me that my wisdom teeth must be extracted. They said they were pushing into the roots of my other teeth, and would be an issue soon. I wish I had the option, but they must come out. Thanks so much for letting me know. How are doing with your application process?

I have a little bit of potentially good news for you. Technically you do not have to be dentally cleared to receive an invitation from Placement. You must have your work done I think within a month of leaving? But, they will continue you through the processes even if you do not yet have your work completely completed.

I wouldn’t quote me on that, but I’ve spoken with a few other applicants in similar situations and they were able to get invites even with pending dental.

Perhaps give them a call and ask all your questions just so you know for sure?

    Good luck!

Well, I knew that. At least I thought I knew that. I read it somewhere in my toolkit. Even a friend of mine received his invitation and had to get his wisdom teeth pulled later. But most people who have been receiving their invites early have been dentally and medically cleared. If what they said were true, I would have moved onto placement over a month ago. OMS is holding onto my file, and I’m okay with it. I’m just getting antsy. Ashley has a nomination for June and her invite is in the mail. I think once I make 501 status, I’ll be waiting by the phone everyday hoping that placement will call.

Rumor has it: you don’t need to be dentally cleared to receive an invitation. You need to be dentally cleared by Staging.

The rumors are true, but I think that might only be the case if you’re departure date is near.
