Medical Hold
This is a continuation of m previous entry. I was put on medical hold October 1st. It says that I was under review, but guys if you’re ever on medical hold it means they have already mailed you something saying your medical kit is incomplete. The interesting thing is my letter was postmarked September 30th.
Here’s what was missing:
1. My urinalysis said I had protein in my urine. I think I was dehydrated or something. I retook my test on Tuesday. Got the results back today. Everything looks good.
2. My doctor didn’t check a yes or no box in Section X. Btw, he was awful. He was in and out in no time. I don’t think he even knew my name throughout the entire physical. Whatevs. I sent in the sheet for him to ammend to his office today. Hopefully I’ll get a call tomorrow.
3. My school said I was allergic to apples and I’m not. I had to write a statement about it.
4. My physician said I have no allergies when I said I have seasonal in the HRS. I had to write another statement about that.
Currently, I waiting to hear back from my doctor, then I just have to fax everything in. I’m super excited that it went through so quickly. I just don’t want to talk to placement to tell them I’ve done nothing for HIV/AIDS. Of course if they do contact me, they’re going to say that “no programs have been set up for your nomination date so ttyl!”
It will be time to tackle dental soon.

Apples? Thats a random thing for them to say you’re allergic to. But at least you know whats wrong with your medical now and are fixing it.
Well, the apples are a weird thing. When I went in the get my flu shot, they asked me if I was allergic to anything. A week or so earlier I ate an apple and I had an itchy throat, so I told them that I might be developing an allergy. But it never happened again. I’ve even gone to the trouble of telling them, but they won’t remove it from my records…sorry if this is TMI.
Haha its not TMI. I put down that I’m lactose-intolerant (but so is a huge percentage of the world’s population) so now I’m worried that they’re going to make a big deal about it. I’m just waiting for my medical to come back with a giant-ass checklist of everything thats wrong with it. They only give us 6 months to get all the way through the process, so I’m a bit worried that mine won’t be done in time.
I think you’ll be fine! You turned in your medical quickly. If anything, a hold will only delay you a little over a week.
Don’t tell PC, but I think I might have an apple allergy too. A few times four years ago when I’d eat a really green one I’d get an itchy face and lips… I read somewhere that if you have seasonal allergies to pollen, you can be allergic to fruit too since the fruit is a product of pollen. I think I also read that the apple skin is where the pollen in, so peeling it or cooking it can reduce the allergic reaction.
That’s crazy. I think I might peal my apples from now on. Yeah, don’t tell the PC; they’re going to make a big deal out of it. “Do you need an Epi-Pen?”
PS: Do they even have apples in most places in the world? Aren’t they a very north-american type of fruit?
According to wiki, apples grow in China, USA, Iran, Turkey, Russia, Italy, and India.
Crazy. I guess being from Michigan (a huge producer of apples) I just assumed all the world’s apples came from here. lol
Yeah, when I googled it, I think Michigan was leading in America, but China wins all world wide
